The 2006 Cedar City Skyfest was held September 15, 16 and 17, 2006.  However, the events scheduled on Friday, September 15 had to be cancelled due to the weather.  An un-seasonable cold front moved in that morning bringing with it very cold temperatures as well as high winds.  The Balloon pilots and organizers of the event decided it was too risky to launch.  The other two days went very well and many people came to watch the balloons launch and then stayed on to see what our club had to offer.
A good look at one of the balloons shortly after liftoff on Saturday morning.
Looking North along the launch area as balloons lift off and other prepare for flight.
Some of the spectators as they began to gather around the display area and watch as pilots readied their planes for flight.
Once of our club members getting some help from his daughter as he prepares to show the crowd what his planes can do.
Another shot of the display area immediately after the balloons have all left.
The crowd slowly began to filter in as the display area was taking shape.
Spectators were excited to see and hear the engines start and the pilots move out to the flight line to begin demonstrating how much fun R/C Flying can be.
Another club member readying his plane for the morning activities.
More balloons lifting off during the mornings launch.
Another picture of the crowd that gathered around the display area to watch and ask questions.
Combat was a real crowd pleaser during the Skyfest.  Here we see some of the club pilots readying their planes for one of the combat events.
Another big draw for the spectators was the chance to get some time on the sticks with a buddy box.  Many people, young and old, had a chance to get their hands "dirty" on the sticks.
One of the planes taking to the wild blue yonder for combat.
