On June 23, 2007, the club held it's first ever sponsored event at the new Three Peaks Modelport.  The day turned out very good overall, even though the wind wreaked a little havoc later on.  All in all, it was a good day and a great big thanks to all who participated or just came to watch.  We hope this is the first of many great events to be held at the new site.
Here is a look at the "spectator" area just as the event got rolling.
Another look from the spectator area into the pilot area.  The BLM has posted the field rules as well as the current AMA safety code on the bulletin board.
A shot of one of the pilots just after take-off for one of the events as other pilots and on-lookers watch.
Another pilot prepares to take to the sky for an event.
A few of the flyers getting their planes ready in between events.
One example of just how much of a "family" function RC planes can be.  This young man is being helped by his father during one of the events, but he is showing alot of promise to becoming a good pilot himself.
Another pilot getting ready for take-off.
Checking the plane just before his turn on the line.
Here are a few of the planes involved in the combat event.
Another picture of the combat.
The anatomy of a mid-air collision.  This picture was taken shortly after impact.
A few seconds after the initial impact.  Note the separated wing on the plane on the right.  The plane on the left went as limp as a wet noodle from the fuse being broken and had a big chunk taken out of the right wing.
And another shot just before the plane hit the ground.  Notice the wing is still in the air.
A spirited discussion after the combat event.
Picking up the pieces after the combat was over.
